Cardi B in Rahul Mishra: When Couture Becomes a Love Story

Published

on

There are moments in fashion that move beyond spectacle and become something quietly unforgettable — when a garment doesn’t just dress a woman, it seems to reveal her truest, most delicate power. Last night in Paris was one of those rare moments.

Cardi B x Rahul Mishra

Stepping out in Rahul Mishra’s Becoming Love couture creation, Cardi B wasn’t merely attending an event; she was inhabiting a dream meticulously brought to life by dozens of patient hands. The gown, a deep, romantic red, wrapped around her figure with almost flowing grace. Its sculpted bodice donned over a long skirt that sparkled with the subtlest of embellishments, catching light like tiny whispers. But it was the captivating radiance of oversized roses — blossoming around her shoulders and arms — that transformed the look into a living composition.

Rahul Mishra a Visionary Designer

Rahul Mishra, whose work is known to be deeply personal, a painstaking craftsmanship and storytelling,  put together the essence of this moment best in his own words. He shared the images of Cardi on Instagram, and wrote:

Last night was truly special

It meant the world to have Cardi B @iamcardib with us, not just as a muse but as the embodiment of our collection’s spirit.

There is something rare and beautiful about the alignment of muse and maker. Cardi B, known for her fierce energy and fearless approach to personal style, carried Mishra’s vision with a softness that felt almost surprising. She stood poised and radiant, letting the roses curve protectively around her as though she were both queen and bloom. It was a tender contradiction — strength wrapped in the language of delicate petals — and together, the designer and star created a fashion moment that goes beyond any ordinary red carpet appearance.

Mishra’s work has long been a quiet celebration of nature, romance, and renewal. Each of his pieces seems to hold a certain patience — the embroidery is slow and deliberate, the features thoughtfully considered, as if reminding the world that beauty worth having can’t ever be rushed. With Becoming Love, he appeared to push this philosophy even further, turning fabric into a narrative about opening up, standing unguarded, and letting oneself be seen.

Seeing Cardi B in this masterpiece only underscored how universal that story truly is. It’s easy to focus on the grandness of couture — the hours of labor, the luxury, the sheer visual spectacle. But sometimes, the most moving part is how it allows a woman to stand fully inside a fantasy that feels crafted just for her. Watching Cardi move in Mishra’s  creation felt exactly like that: a private story shared in a public space, tender yet undeniably powerful.

And under the lights in Paris, for a brief and shining moment, love itself seemed to take shape — in velvet, roses, and the confident glow of a woman who knows precisely who she is.

Kim Kardashian hosted her Skims holiday party in West Hollywood on the night of December 19.

The multi-talented celebrity chose a traditional yet festive black dress for the event, a change from her usual previous revealing style in favour of something a little more modest. The outfit, which looked like a mock-neck long sleeve layered beneath a skin-tight maxi dress, was made completely of soft velvety black, with distinct detailing that was subtle.

It blended a classic vibe with fancy elements, from exposed boning that shaped Kardashian’s bodice to braided straps that referenced the star’s hairy streak. The  large satin bow at her waist cemented the piece as an ideal choice for the holiday season

However, the designs on the back of the dress were less subtle. It took the bustle trend inspired by 19th century fashion women’s dresses, the outfit was wrapped with red silk gathers for a festive twist on the classic structure, a revival that has been on runways and red carpets lately.

Ariana Grande’s fashion has moved into a bold phase as she pushes beyond her Wicked persona and introduces a structured wardrobe. After months of dressing up as Glinda the Good Witch for Wicked: For Good press conferences in pastel-pink dresses and bubble-inspired clothing, Grande is now displaying a wardrobe direction that reflects her theatrical background while fearlessly branching out.

During the latest Saturday Night Live promo campaign, Grande appeared inspired by wearing a vintage Bob Mackie dress originally worn by Carol Burnett in the 1970s, an evident change from her regular Glinda looks. Styled by Law Roach, the retro chevron-patterned gown showed Grande’s  interest in classic design and traditional Hollywood glamour.

At the Late Night with Seth Meyers appearance, the star balanced her method dressing with a refined gown from Paolo Sebastian collection, a full ladylike skirt and a button-up, off-the-shoulder bodice.

This stylistic shift continues at the Wicked: For Good European premiere, where Grande wore a shimmering black paillettes gown, a classic choice far removed from her signature pink.

The transition also extends to her hair and accessories; she has favored darker, more sophisticated colors and vintage pieces that suggest a move toward quiet luxury.

While elements of her Glinda era still influence key looks, Grande’s current fashion direction reflects a more intentional and wide-ranging approach to dressing.
