Tessa Thompson, Sydney Sweeney, and Jennifer Lawrence stunned in show-stopping gowns at the 2025 Governor’s Awards.

Long before the Oscar season officially begins, the Governor’s Award, an annual formal dinner is held in celebration of iconic Hollywood stars. This year was no exception as it honored Debbie Allen, Tom Cruise, Wynn Thomas and Dolly Parton on the 16th of November 2025 in Los Angeles, California.

The 16th edition of the Governor’s Award, hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) was held in the Ray Dolby Ballroom, Los Angeles with multiple outlets confirming three Honorary Oscars and a Parton’s Humanitarian Award to Dolly Parton.

The energy was over the roof and here are pieces that deserve a standing ovation:

Jennifer stepped out in a beautiful flowing dress from the Tamara Ralph 2025 collection. Her strapless dress had a sweetheart neckline which she finished the look with long, black gloves.

The contrast between black and champagne cream was truly a creative work of fashion.

Her custom-made dress from Dior was designed by Jonathan Anderson. It featured an off-shoulder design, knee-high slit and a bold pleat at the hip.

Ariana wore a vintage dress from Christian Dior collection. Her pale pink flowing dress had a bold strap over the shoulder and resembled a saree with gathered fabric at the hip.

The look impressed first because the dress was an archival piece from Galliano’s tenure at Dior and also because she also leaned into “Glinda” aesthetic for the upcoming Wicked series.

Damson Idris

Damson Idris stepped out looking sharp in a rich chocolate-brown double-breasted tuxedo by Ralph Lauren. His look featured satin lapels, a black bow tie for a jot of finesse and black shoes.

Co-star for The Wicked series, Cynthia Erivo, wore a custom-made dress by Loewe from its 2025 Spring Summer Collection. The dress featured layers of crepe and satin with floral prints and featherworks.

This dress caught our attention for its fresh interpretation of method dressing, especially for the series Wicked which Erivo plays with Ariana Grande. This green-themed gown was one of the many tour dresses and signified her character, Elphaba’s signature color.

Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson

Emily wore a red dress by Chiaparelli from the Spring-Summer 2026 collection featuring a mermaid-style and elegant one-shoulder sleeve design while Dwayne wore a blue suit with matching open-collar shirt and matching pants.

After the three-year wait, Stranger Things Season 5, the fifth and final season is finally coming to our screens with lead star Millie Bobby Brown for the FYC event at the Netflix Tudum Theater in Los Angeles on the 8th of November, 2025.

Stranger Things is an American science-fiction horror and coming-of-age series created by the Duffer Brothers for Netflix. With four seasons released over the past six years, the final season is set to be released in three parts between November and December 2025: First on November 26th, then December 25th and the grand finale on the 31st of December, 2025.

Ahead of the grand debut, the cast including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Winona Ryder, Noah Schnapp and others have been promoting the event, first with the Los Angeles premiere on the 6th, followed by another on the 8th of November, 2025.

Olivier Rousteing Exits Balmain

After more than a decade of redefining modern luxury with his fearless ideas, inclusive vision, and celebrity-driven influence Olivier Rousteing is officially leaving his post as Balmain’s creative director.

The 40-year-old designer, who’s led the Parisian house since 2011, broke the news himself on Instagram this Wednesday. “Today marks the end of my Balmain era,” he wrote, calling it both “a love story” and “a life story.” His post felt deeply personal thankful, nostalgic, and proud.

Balmain confirmed his exit soon after, thanking him for his “visionary approach” and hinting that a new creative direction will be announced “in due course.”

When Rousteing first took charge at just 25: he made headlines for two reasons, his age and his presence. He was one of the youngest ever to lead a major Parisian fashion house and one of the few Black designers at that level. Over 14 years, he took Balmain from a quiet couture label to a world-recognized luxury brand.

His aesthetic was easy to spot: sharp shoulders, structured cuts, and high-shine finishes. But what really set him apart was how he understood fame and community. Even before fashion lived online, Rousteing had already built his own tribe, the Balmain Army, fronted by Rihanna, Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, and Naomi Campbell, women who carried his brand of fearless of glamour.

Rousteing’s runways felt more like music events than fashion shows. Lights, sound, energy, and a sense that everyone in the room belonged. He made luxury feel inclusive, without losing its edge.

His own story only deepened that message. Born in Bordeaux and adopted as a baby, Rousteing discovered later in life that his birth parents were of Somali and Ethiopian descent. That revelation became part of his creative voice; his collections often reflected identity, resilience, and a longing to belong.

A defining chapter closes, no doubt. Rousteing leaves Balmain with a legacy. And knowing him, this isn’t the end of the story, it’s the beginning of something new.

This year, Kristen Stewart delivered the keynote presentation where she urged women to unite, reject tokenism, and acknowledge gender inequality in Hollywood.
