The Best Moisturising Toners to Replace Heavy Summer Creams

Published

on

Every summer, there comes a moment when your usual moisturiser stops feeling comfortable on the skin and your winter moisturiser begins to feel heavy, trapping heat on the skin, and makes midday shine more noticeable. The solution isn’t dropping moisture altogether, but switching how you apply it.

Moisturising toners have become a key step in many warm-weather routines. Lightweight enough to absorb before you have finished patting them in, yet substantive enough to hold the skin barrier steady through humidity and heat, they sit between a splash of water and a richer cream. Here are five worth considering.

Laneige Cream Skin Toner

It delivers the satisfaction of a moisturiser inside a toner’s featherlight body, with white leaf tea water helping to calm inflammation while a ceramide and peptide complex works quietly underneath to support barrier repair. Best suited to dry and sensitive skin, but those with oilier skin may want to patch test before committing.

Shiseido Eudermine Activating Essence Lotion

Twenty-four-hour hydration from a formula that feels like water on the skin is the kind of claim that usually invites scepticism. Here, however, dual hyaluronic acids lend it credibility, drawing in and sealing moisture at different skin depths. Vitamin C helps brighten and even out tone with continued use.

SK-II Facial Treatment Toner

Pitera™, SK-II’s signature ferment complex, has been central to the brand’s formulations for decades. Combined with AHAs, it lifts residual grime, refines texture, and brightens in a single step. Less a traditional toner and more a final step in cleansing, designed to refine skin with continued use.

Fenty Beauty Fat Water Toner Essence

It contains tamarind, panthenol, and hyaluronic acid, which absorb quickly and leave skin hydrated and feeling calmer, the travel-friendly packaging is a practical bonus, though the light scent is worth testing if fragrance sensitivity is a concern.

Rhode Skin Glazing Milk

Ceramides and beta-glucan form the backbone of this calming essence, built specifically with reactive and eczema-prone skin in mind, it carries the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance. It leaves skin hydrated through the day without feeling heavy or occlusive.

Bare Nails Are the New Indicator of Wealth

Published

on

Bare nails have moved from a low-maintenance beauty choice to a visible grooming trend in modern beauty culture. Across celebrity appearances, editorial beauty coverage and social media trends, polished natural nails are increasingly positioned as the preferred alternative to elaborate nail art and long extensions.

The trend focuses on nails that appear healthy, neatly shaped and lightly polished, often finished with sheer nude, soft pink or clear glossy coatings. Instead of decorative design, the look prioritises nail condition, cuticle care and a smooth, well-kept surface.

Celebrity influence has shaped its visibility. Public appearances from figures such as Hailey Bieber, Kylie Jenner and Daisy Edgar-Jones have appeared with simple manicures often in neutral tones or near-invisible finishes. These choices goes with a broader shift away from long acrylics, chrome textures and heavily styled nail designs.

The appeal of naked nails is linked to minimal beauty routines. Instead of ornate nail work, attention has turned to maintenance: strengthening treatments, hydration oils, regular shaping and finishes that enhance natural nail tone. The look relies more on upkeep than decoration.

Social media aesthetics such as “clean girl” and minimalist beauty aesthetics have amplified the trend, with natural-looking nails repeatedly appearing alongside pared-back makeup and neutral styling. The pattern is consistent: short to medium length nails, soft finishes and a preference for subtle sheen over bold polish shades.

It shows a shift a broader change in nail preferences after years of maximalist nail trends. Where intricate nail art, sculpted extensions and decorative finishes once defined trend cycles, current demand favours simpler styles, even if the maintenance behind the look remains consistent.

Bare nails now sit within a broader beauty direction that prioritises neatness, care, and a pared-back finish. The look appears simple, but it depends on regular maintenance, shaping, and strengthening treatments that keep nails visibly healthy and smooth.

Can You Combine Botox Treatments with Face Yoga

Published

on

Injectables are becoming a common component of many people’s self-care routines, according to the beauty industry. For a long time, botox has been praised as the fastest way to reduce the look of aging and even out fine lines, now, focus is shifting to what occurs after the procedure. A growing number of people are searching for non-invasive techniques to maintain results, such as skincare, lifestyle modifications, and facial yoga.

Once dismissed as wellness folklore, facial exercise is now becoming more popular among people who want to take a more proactive approach to skin care. Beauty injections work by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles responsible for repeated expressions, whereas face yoga focuses on stimulating and strengthening muscles through controlled movement. Many are beginning to question whether these strategies can actually coexist because they function differently.

Anti-wrinkle treatment functions biologically by obstructing nerve signals that instruct specific face muscles to contract. Dynamic wrinkles brought on by recurrent facial movement over time, such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines, are softened by this brief relaxation. In contrast,  Non-invasive facial therapy uses controlled expressions, stretching, massage, and facial exercises to improve circulation, ease tension, and raise muscle awareness.

“Facial yoga should not be performed immediately after Botox. More intensive techniques should be postponed until the full effect has developed and any necessary corrections are completed — typically around two to three weeks,” explains Dr Maria Aiginina, Dermatovenerologist and Cosmetologist at Hide Clinic, Dubai. According to her, gentle techniques may later be reintroduced selectively, especially in untreated areas or between treatment cycles.

Generally, dermatologists agree that intense face toning techniques immediately after line-reducing treatments is not advisable. Overstimulating treated muscles too early may shorten the longevity of the injectable and, in some cases, contribute to wrinkle formation instead of preventing it. However, lighter techniques such as lymphatic drainage massage and gentle facial manipulation may still help improve circulation, reduce puffiness, and support overall skin quality.

Experts also advise against severe facial massage, vigorous rubbing, strong gua sha pressure, and prolonged stretching after injections. Overdoing face exercises can cause uneven movement, stress, headaches, discomfort in the face, or the appearance of new expression lines.

Nowadays, a lot of individuals view beauty injections as more than simply a quick fix. Instead, it is becoming a part of a more all-encompassing preventative beauty routine that also incorporates non-invasive therapies, skincare, sunscreen, hydration, and sleep. Facial stretching routine is becoming more and more integrated into this routine as a supportive method rather than as a substitute for injectables.

Age may also have an impact on the results. While older patients with deeper wrinkles may depend more on injectables for visible treatment, younger people with moderate expression lines may benefit more from preventative botox combined with light face exercises.

Ultimately, skin-smoothing injections and facial lifting therapy are not entirely incompatible. They can coexist, but thoughtfully. The safest approach lies in moderation, timing, and understanding which parts of the face benefit from movement and which areas may require rest after treatment.
