How to Accessorise Your Outfit to Look Chic

Published

on

Using the right accessory is a necessity as this could either make or break your dress code. When you use the right accessory , your look can move from ordinary to extraordinary giving you a touch of elegance and sophistication.

With this in mind, let’s dive into the art of accessorizing

Remember, accessorizing is all about balance and harmony. You want to add just the right amount of accessories to enhance your outfit without overwhelming it.

Here are a few key principles to keep in mind:

  1.  Start Simple: Begin with a simple outfit that provides a neutral background for your accessories.
  2. Use a standout piece: Incorporate one statement piece, such as a bold necklace or earrings, to add visual interest to your outfit.
  3. Balance with secondary accessories: Use secondary accessories, like a belt or scarf, to balance out your look and add texture.
  4. Don’t overdo it: Remember, less is often more. Avoid over- accessorizing, as it can make your outfit look cluttered and overwhelming.

Tips for Accessorizing Your Outfit

  1. Know your body shape: Understand your body shape and choose accessories that flatter your figure. For example, if you have a pear-shaped body, draw attention to your upper body with a statement necklace.
  2. Consider the occasion: Accessorize according to the occasion. For a formal event, opt for more elegant and formal accessories, while a casual outing calls for more relaxed, laid-back accessories.
  3. Play with textures: Mix different textures, like smooth and rough, to add depth and visual interest to your outfit.
  4. Don’t forget about colors: Choose accessories that complement your outfit’s color palette. If you’re wearing a bold-colored dress, opt for neutral-colored accessories to avoid overwhelming the look.
  5.  Experiment with different accessories style: Layering different accessories, like a watch and a bracelet, can add visual interest to your outfit.

Chic Accessory Ideas

Here are a few chic accessorizing ideas to get you started:

  1. Pair a statement necklace with a simple dress: Add a bold, eye-catching necklace to a simple dress for a chic, effortless look.
  2. Add a pop of color with a scarf: Use a brightly colored scarf to add a pop of color to a neutral-colored outfit.
  3. Elevate your outfit with a belt: Use a belt to cinch your waist and add definition to your outfit.
  4. Make a statement with earrings: Choose bold, eye-catching earrings to add a touch of glamour to your outfit.

Accessorizing is an art that requires balance, harmony, and a keen eye for detail. By following these tips and ideas, you will be well on your way to creating chic, polished outfits that showcase your personal style.

Remember, accessorizing is all about experimentation and having fun. Don’t be afraid to try new things and see what works best for you!

5 Cartier Watches That Have Earned Icon Status

Published

on

Photo: Pinterest

Cartier occupies a distinct place in luxury watchmaking. Founded in Paris in 1847, the maison did more than enter fine timekeeping, it helped reshape its design language.Where others prioritised function, Cartier pursued something rarer: the intersection of precision engineering and jewellery-grade artistry. The result is a catalogue of timepieces that have outlasted trends, outlived their original wearers, and remained as relevant on today’s wrists as they were at their conception.

These are not watches that relied on marketing to become icons. They earned it through design decisions bold enough to stand the test of decades.

 The Tank

No Cartier watch carries more cultural weight than the Tank. Launched in 1917 and inspired by the geometric lines of WWI battlefield tanks, it arrived as an architectural statement in a market dominated by round dials. The angular case, slim profile, and clean dial marked a departure from its era, where restraint itself became a form of luxury.

What followed was a century of devoted wearers, Princess Diana, Jackie Kennedy, Michelle Obama, and Elizabeth Taylor among them. The Tank’s staying power lies precisely in its refusal to overcomplicate. Subsequent variations including the Tank Louis Cartier, the Tank Must, and the Tank Américaine have each introduced subtle reinterpretations without disturbing the original’s essential character.

The Panthère de Cartier

Introduced in the 1980s, the Panthère de Cartier approached watchmaking as an extension of jewellery design. Its square case and supple link bracelet were conceived to move with the wrist, fluid, tactile, and deliberately reminiscent of a panther in motion. The reference to Cartier’s most enduring animal motif was intentional; the panther has represented the maison’s spirit since the early 20th century.

Decades on, it remains a fixture at fashion weeks. Available across yellow gold, steel, and fully diamond-set versions, it accommodates restraint and extravagance with equal elegance.

 The Ballon Bleu

The newest entry on this list, the Ballon Bleu arrived in 2007 and quickly established itself. Its convex, balloon-like case marked a departure from Cartier’s existing silhouettes, yet it remained entirely coherent with the maison’s language, Roman numerals, blue sword-shaped hands and a sapphire cabochon crown.

What the Ballon Bleu achieved was accessibility without compromise. Ranging from 28mm to 42mm. It sits comfortably on any wrist and reads as effortlessly current regardless of the decade. For a watch barely two decades old, that is a meaningful distinction.

The Baignoire

Originally conceived in 1912, the Baignoire is one of the most distinctive watch in Cartier’s portfolio. Its oval case sits between round and angular forms, occupying a distinct place within Cartier’s design language. Its name, French for “bathtub,” refers to its elongated oval form, long associated with unconventional design. It remains the piece for those who find the Tank too expected and the Panthère too familiar.

The Tank Américaine

The Tank Américaine is one of the most wearable evolution of the original Tank concept. Its elongated case stretches the founding design into something more modern and relaxed – an effortless silhouette that translates across formal and casual contexts with equal conviction.

Available in yellow, white, and rose gold as well as steel, and sized to suit a range of wrists, it has attracted a notably diverse following. Rihanna and Rihanna and Tom Holland are among its best-known wearers, highlighting its ability to move across style worlds. It is a Tank for those who want the lineage without the formality.

What unites these five watches is not price point or prestige, though both apply. It is the fact that each resolved a design question that no one else had thought to ask and answered it so completely that the question has never needed revisiting.

Watches and Wonders 2026: The Biggest Moments So Far

Published

on

Watches and Wonders 2026 has delivered some of the year’s most important luxury watch releases, with 66 brands unveiling new models in Geneva.

These were the eight that defined the show.

Patek Philippe Nautilus

Patek marked the Nautilus’s 50th anniversary with several limited editions but the 37mm version quickly became one of the standout models. With no date window and no seconds hand, the focus stays entirely on the clean blue display. For a reference already regarded as one of watchmaking’s great achievements, the decision to strip it back further was one of Patek’s boldest moves

Daytona with Grand Feu Enamel Dial

Rolex fitted its most important sport watch with a Grand Feu enamel dial, almost entirely white, with minimal black accents. There is no additional decoration or visual excess. The craftsmanship carries it entirely, and for many editors it was the single best release of the week.

Tudor Monarch

The centrepiece of Tudor’s centenary celebrations was completely unexpected, defined by a champagne display, METAS certification and a measured design that stood out across the exhibition floor.

Overseas Dual Time Leads Vacheron Constantin’s New Releases

The case is 12mm thick and measures 41mm in diameter with a titanium case and a design that avoids the heavy outdoor branding seen on comparable sports watches. Ben Clymer of Hodinkee said the Vacheron Constantin Overseas was likely the watch most people at the show wanted to buy.

Zenith G.F.J. in Tantalum

Restricted to 20 pieces, the tantalum edition features a black onyx dial with diamond markers and sold out shortly after its release. Zenith is also offering a made-to-order gold bracelet priced at $102,600 with additional G.F.J. variations already in development.

Cartier Crash Squelette

The new manufacture 1967 MC calibre opens up the Crash’s movement through the dial, while the curved case design creates a profile that resembles a subtle pair of lips in its side silhouette. The burgundy colourway made it the most visually arresting piece Cartier showed all week.

H. Moser x Reebok Streamliner Pump

The collaboration started three years ago when a Reebok employee who collects Moser pushed the two brands to connect. The orange pump button at 8 o’clock is functional, with each press contributes one hour to the 74-hour power reserve. It is among the more genuinely inventive objects the show has produced in recent memory.

Ulysse Nardin Super Freak

Two flying tourbillons, priced at $361,600. Ulysse Nardin describes it as the most complicated time-only watch ever made. The seconds display is a small rotating square divided into 15-second increments. It completes one full rotation every minute at the tip of the minute hand. An extraordinary amount of engineering in service of a watch whose only job is to tell the time.
